Safran DSI Powers U.S. Space Growth with Thruster Milestone and Strategic Shift

Space Symposium, April 13-16 2026

Speed and scalability mean everything in the New Space sector. Safran DSI continues to reinforce its leading market position through its state-of-the-art facility in Parker, Colorado, which is on track to complete the production of its first PPS®X00 electric propulsion thruster by the end of 2026.

Suitable for smaller platforms, the 1kW class PPS®X00 is a compact thruster engineered for high-volume manufacturing, standardized production, and reduced lead times, making it an ideal solution for low Earth orbit satellite constellations. Produced by Safran DSI’s Space Solutions Business Unit, its design meets the exacting needs and specifications of U.S. commercial and government customers.

“The 28,000-square feet facility will be capable of producing up to 200 units annually” said John Taibi, VP at Safran DSI Space Solutions. “We are seeing strong market interest, with multiple launches already scheduled in the near term.”

In addition to satellite propulsion systems, Safran DSI offers a comprehensive portfolio of space solutions, including Space Electronics with TT&C and missions data radios, multi-GNSS receivers, and atomic clocks; high-resolution optical payloads; Space Situational Awareness (SSA) solutions; and ground-based systems including stations, modems, and optical technologies.

“The Space Factory in Parker has been designed as an agile manufacturing center for spaceflight hardware, starting with the PPS®X00 thruster,” said Chris Keeler, President of Safran DSI Space Solutions. “We are proud to support U.S. sovereignty with our advanced solutions.”

“As part of a broader strategic evolution and refreshed brand positioning, we are aligning our capabilities and offerings around three core pillars: Proliferate, Connect, and Maneuver. This framework reflects our commitment to enabling mission expansion and persistent coverage, ensuring secure and resilient communications, and delivering reliable on-orbit control and agility for our U.S.-based customers.”
