Aetos™ 5-R Series eSWIR

Extended Shortwave Camera Core (eSWIR)

Safran DSI Aetos e SWIR and Griffin Rotary MWIR

The Aetos™ eSWIR 5-R Series camera cores include the Aetos™ eSWIR VGA5-R (640 × 512) and Aetos™ eSWIR HD5-R (1280 × 1024), featuring the industry’s smallest extended short-wave infrared (eSWIR) sensors designed to enable ultra-compact cryocooled infrared imaging systems. Built with our High Operating Temperature (HOT) Type-II Superlattice (T2SL) detector technology, the Aetos™ eSWIR 5-R Series captures high-quality snapshot SWIR imagery across a 0.9–2.4 µm wavelength range, enabling advanced sensing and imaging performance.

With an ultra-small 5 µm pixel pitch, these eSWIR sensors provide more pixels on target when paired with shorter focal length optics, reducing overall sensor and system size while maintaining high image resolution. The camera cores incorporate a high-efficiency rotary cooler that delivers fast cooldown performance and optimized power consumption, making them well suited for demanding operational environments.

The Aetos™ eSWIR sensors also support broadband imaging and day- and night-time laser see-spot detection, expanding their versatility for surveillance, targeting, and advanced sensing applications.

Engineered for low SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) applications, the Aetos™ eSWIR 5-R Series offers significant system-level cost advantages compared to competing eSWIR camera solutions. With a compact 134 cm³ volume and a 221-gram weight, these rotary-cooled eSWIR camera cores are ideal for small gimbal integration, as well as SWaP-constrained handheld, unmanned, and soldier-carried imaging systems.

The form factor and electronics of the Aetos™ eSWIR camera cores are identical to Attollo Engineering’s Griffin™ VGA5-R and Griffin™ HD5-R MWIR camera cores, allowing for simplified system integration and platform compatibility across multiple infrared imaging configurations. Refer to the product datasheet for a complete list of specifications and performance details.
