Griffin™ 5-R
Midwave Infrared Camera Core (MWIR)
The Attollo Griffin™ 5-R Series MWIR camera cores include the Griffin™ VGA5-R™ (640 × 512) and Griffin™ HD5-R™ (1280 × 1024), featuring the industry’s smallest Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) sensors designed to enable the most compact cryocooled infrared imaging systems. Built with an ultra-small 5 µm pixel pitch, the Griffin™ 5-R Series captures high-resolution snapshot MWIR imagery using Attollo Engineering’s HOT Type-II Superlattice (T2SL) detector technology. This small pixel design allows more pixels on target with shorter focal length optics, reducing overall sensor size while maintaining high imaging performance.
The Griffin™ 5-R Series integrates a high-efficiency rotary cooler that delivers fast cooldown times and improved power efficiency, making it well suited for demanding field applications. Both the Griffin™ VGA5-R™ and Griffin™ HD5-R™ sensors support broadband MWIR imaging along with day- and night-time laser see-spot detection, enabling enhanced target identification and mission versatility.
Designed for low SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) environments, the Griffin™ 5-R Series MWIR cores provide significant system-level cost savings compared with traditional MWIR cameras. With a compact 134 cm³ volume and a lightweight 221-gram design, these rotary-cooled MWIR cameras are ideal for small gimbal integration, as well as SWaP-constrained handheld, unmanned, and soldier-mounted systems requiring high-performance infrared imaging.
